Curriculum Projects
CITD's Curriculum Projects team provides consulting services for program and
course designs following the Curriculum Excellence (CE@SAIT) framework. Projects
are divided into two phases: learning design and development.
The learning design phase includes defining and aligning learning outcomes and
objectives, high level assessment and learning activity plans, teaching and
learning strategies course delivery methods and schedules. The learning designs
are then used as blueprints to direct curriculum development.
During the development phase, detailed assessments, activities, and learning
resources are created and/or revised and reviewed.
The Curriculum Projects team
includes: instructional designers, project managers, writer/editors, and a
copyright officer.
Multimedia Development
During the Learning Development phase, Multimedia Development Services works
with the Curriculum Projects team to produce standards-compliant multimedia pieces using industry recognized software packages including but not limited to: Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator,
Dreamweaver, 3D Studio Max, and Microsoft Expression Web.
New Media Specialists on the Multimedia Development team facilitate the production a wide range of digital media to enhance course content, from computer animations using Adobe Flash and digital image manipulation to high quality video and audio production.

Faculty Development Services
Faculty Development Services (FDS) is a faculty led centre committed to helping
instructors develop the best teaching and learning practices in the varied
learning environments SAIT offers.
Using a needs-based approach they plan and deliver training and development
opportunities that align with faculty and academic department needs, while at
the same time supporting the achievement of SAIT's short and longer-term
strategic goals.
Below is a list of some of the FDS services available:
Faculty Development Workshop
This workshop is designed to build upon one’s teaching skills and incorporate
them into a Facilitation role. Instructors attend a 4 day workshop where they
experience and learn how to facilitate for various workshops, such as the
Instructional Skills Workshop.
Instructional Skills Workshop
The Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) is an opportunity for those who are new
to teaching, for those who would like the opportunity to try out new teaching
ideas, or for those of who want to be re-energized. The ISW is a 24 hour
hands-on workshop, which allows the instructor to discover, refine, or hone
teaching skills in a safe, creative environment.
Teaching Excellence Foundations
The Teaching Excellence Foundations is an intensive 2 week workshop, for all new
fulltime instructors, which provides the instructor with training and support
that will help cultivate and improve the skills necessary to optimally succeed
in the classroom, lab, shop, and other learning environments they may experience
here at SAIT.
Curriculum Excellence Foundations Series
A series of four Curriculum Excellence Workshops to equip SAIT Faculty/Staff
with the tools to confidently complete a high quality SAIT standard learning
design, working in a collaborative environment. Each workshop is four hours in
length and has been designed as a working session with a group of peers and
Instructional Designers.
Take-A-Break Workshops
A short, 50-minute workshop for those interested in making their courses more
effective and satisfying. In each facilitated workshop, the participant picks up
some new information, gains practical skills and is back to work in under an
hour. Emphasis is on being able to apply what is learned the very same day.
Consultations and Classroom Observation/Coaching
Confidential instructor support through one-on-one consultations, small group analyses and classroom visits are available.
Collaboratory
Collaboratory is a new service offered by the Centre for Instructional
Technology and Development (CITD) where faculty can work directly with a
specialist to learn more about – and get help with – a variety of educational
tools and techniques.
In this hands-on "collaborative laboratory," faculty and Collaboratory
specialists can work together to test, learn and master new and existing
practices through how-tos, small group sessions and individual consultations.
Educational Technologies Services
Educational Technologies Services in CITD consists of Learning Management System and Client Support Services.
This team assist SAIT instructors, Distance Education Coordinators and industry partners with implementation of online curriculum through an integrated delivery platform. They provide post production student and faculty support for campus wide programs and initiatives.
Support for WebCT, the Distance Education
and Online Student Support website, coordination with eCampusAlberta and synchronous conferencing are also covered by this group.
